About Us
The Queechy Titans Touch Football Club is an exciting new entity born from the merger of two successful clubs in the Launceston Touch Association, the Queechy Storm and the Titans Touch club. The following is a brief history
of both clubs.
Queechy Storm
Queechy Storm Touch Football Club was created 4 years ago as a means for Queechy High School students to become involved in the rapidly growing sport of Touch Football in Tasmania. The club started with 2 teams in its first season, but grew very quickly and was represented by 22 teams last season, the biggest club in the Launceston Touch Association.
Queechy Storm became an important part of the Queechy High School community, with hundreds of students, teachers and parents involved in the club. The development of our junior players both on and off the field has been a major focus of the club. The club has become a big part of the Launceston Touch Association over the last 4 years, with over 20 qualified referees and 10 level-1 coaches providing support to the LTA.
Over the last 4 years, Queechy Storm have been represented by 14 players in Tasmanian Junior State Teams at National Championships. This year, 13 of our players have been selected to represent Tasmania, something that the club is very proud of. Queechy Storm have won 13 premierships in the LTA over the last 4 years and many individual player awards in that time.
Titans Touch Club
Founded in the 2007/08 season the Titans Touch Club was initially formed from the Launceston Rugby Club as a way of keeping players together during the off season as well as providing extra preseason training. In this first season the club had three teams, a Men’s Division 1, Men’s Division 3 and Men’s Division 5.
Over the next three seasons the club grew to include a further two new Men’s teams (Div 2 and 8), and in the past two years two new Women’s teams in Division 1 and 3. This growth has been brought about by the recruitment of several experienced women’s players but also a strong partnership with the Port Dalrymple School in George Town.
Over the last 4 years Titans Touch Club have won 6 premierships, and multiple individual awards in the LTA. A major focus of the club has been the development of the junior players from the Port Dalrymple High School, and 8 Titans players have represented Tasmania over the last 4 years.
The Queechy Titans are committed to developing all of our players both on and off the field.
